Education

Glazier apprenticeships and journey worker training programs provide structured pathways to becoming a skilled glazier. These programs combine on-the-job training with classroom instruction, typically lasting 3-4 years. Upon completion, glaziers achieve journeyman status, enabling them to work independently and mentor apprentices.

There are over 2,000 AGMT certified IUPAT Glaziers across North America.

IUPAT Glaziers supplies AGMT installers as another quality assurance tool for owners and contractors. The Architectural Glass & Metal Technician (AGMT) program is a personnel certification process featuring a third-party, independent assessment of a glazier’s knowledge and ability. AGMT tests an experienced glazier’s fundamental knowledge, skills, and abilities through written and hands-on assessments. Because products, systems, and procedures are ever-changing, to maintain the AGMT credential, certified technicians must renew their certification every four years. AGMT is North America’s only ANSI/ISO-accredited certification for architectural glass and metal.
